Melody Douglass is an immensely talented singer/songwriter who once had dreams of going to Nashville before plans got derailed. Now, a single mom and elementary school principal, Melody is surprised to find her high school sweetheart Luke Dawson back in town from his flashy Nashville life as a successful music manager. Luke is on a mission to secure the rights to the Christmas love song “When Christmas Was Young” that Melody wrote for him years ago. His popular client, country singer Lindsay Wyatt, wants to sing it at her upcoming Christmas Eve show. Luke faces unexpected resistance from Melody; she’s not eager to sell her song and Luke is hiding a painful secret from her. As they grow closer again, Melody re-embraces her love of music and her talent and Luke realizes that winning back Melody is more important than the rights to any song.
